TONLAGEN #voice
Dresden Days of Contemporary Music
To the audio and video installations TONLAGEN #stimme
TONLAGEN wants to confront contemporary music with political, cultural, social and private questions. But are these questions relevant to contemporary music at all? And: How relevant is contemporary music to these questions? TONLAGEN does not want to answer these questions, but to approach them.
The theme for TONLAGEN 2019 is the voice. Voices can be raised, can be cast, can be silenced, can drown each other out. TONLAGEN wants to make voices audible, loud as well as quiet, forgotten or suppressed, popular as well as controversial. Above all, TONLAGEN wants to invite you to listen – but also to exchange thoughts.
In 2019, TONLAGEN will also consciously build a bridge to the original Dresden Days of Contemporary Music. 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the musical past of Dresden and East Germany will be the main focus of the programme.
Visitors of the exhibition “Medea muckt auf“. Radical female artists behind the Iron Curtain” of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden will receive a programme book of the entire TONLAGEN Festival free of charge.
