The soundscape of MOTUSNEU is a buzz, a shimmer, and a murmur. Driven by a spirit of discovery, the Leipzig-based trio remains restless and curious. This is also evident in their musical encounter with accordionist Susanne Stock on their latest two-part release, “Balgwege” (Boomslang Records). They listen intently and channel their energies—that’s what makes their collaboration so special. For their upcoming concerts, the four travel through Saxony, where they meet audiences, event organizers, and artists of various generations, listening to their moving stories of how they draw inspiration from their passion for music while grappling with current challenges. MOTUSNEU also aims to spread the sense of community from that emerging scene back then into the present and asks how the scene can navigate the forces of the times to stay alive. To this end, they document their conversations and insights in the podcast “besser free als spät ;),” which is sure to move, inspire, and enrich listeners even beyond the borders of Saxony. Biography

Leipzig-based MOTUSNEU channels the trio’s intensity into radically free-atonal sequences, percussive elements, and transparent registers. Yet their music could be described—far better than with musical terminology—sometimes as active observation, sometimes as the raw expression of a world in flux. As a conscious engagement with this world and as a simple attempt at a conversation about stories between artists and audience, between instrument and body, from person to person—without succumbing to the pressure to entertain. MOTUSNEU consists of Bruno Angeloni (saxophone), Stephan Deller (double bass), and Steffen Roth (drums).

Susanne Stock (*1980) is an accordionist living in Leipzig. Her primary interest lies in contemporary, experimental, and improvisational music. She is a member of “ensemble courage” in Dresden, “newtopia” in Leipzig, and the improvisational ensemble “Gellért Szabó’s Ideal Orchestra,” which was nominated for the German Jazz Prize in the Large Ensemble category in 2026. With her duo Stock–Wettin (accordion–clarinets), she has been working for over 10 years to expand the repertoire for this ensemble, particularly in the configuration of contrabass clarinet and accordion.
