This is a first! For the second year running, Marcel Beyer is a guest at FEATURE RING. The concert generated such a positive response that the board of Literatur Jetzt! wants to bring the evening to the main stage. Marcel Beyer is a poet, novelist, lecturer in poetry at the University of Wuppertal and a researcher into language. He writes about history, memory and sound, whilst maintaining close interaction with a wide variety of people. It is his explorations, experiments and new forms of storytelling that continually drive him to engage with audiences and musicians. This time, he will be performing with the Ring Trio at the Literatur Jetzt! festival, where – not least because of his past as a music journalist – he acts as something of a court conductor at the turntables.

Biography

Marcel Beyer, born in 1965, grew up in Kiel and Neuss, and has lived in Dresden since 1996. He writes novels, poems, essays and libretti. His poetry collection “Dämonenräumdienst” (Berlin: Suhrkamp) was published in 2020, for which he was awarded the Peter Huchel Prize in 2021. Also in 2020, the edition “Thomas Kling: “Werke in vier Bänden” (Berlin: Suhrkamp), which, across 2,600 pages, presents for the first time the full range of works by the exceptional poet Thomas Kling, who died in 2005 at the age of 47 – all the poems and essays published during his lifetime, along with poems and essays from his posthumous estate, texts set to music, and an early play.
