Directions
Getting to HELLERAU by bus and train is easy: Your admission tickets also serve as VVO transit tickets. This means you can travel conveniently (almost) right up to the door of the Festspielhaus! The combined ticket is valid from four hours before the event begins until 4 am the following day on all S-Bahn trains, regional trains, trams, buses, and Elbe ferries.
Please note: Due to construction on Königsbrücker Straße, tram lines 7 and 8 will be rerouted between Albertplatz and Bischofsweg until June 2027 (as currently planned). Both lines will run in both directions via Bahnhof Neustadt (Neustadt Station), Großenhainer Platz, and the Bischofsplatz S-Bahn station. The Louisenstraße stop will be skipped. Please allow a little extra time for your trip.
from Dresden Central Station
- Tram line 8 in the direction of Hellerau → get off at Festspielhaus Hellerau
- Tram line 7 direction Weixdorf → get off at Moritzburger Weg → change to line 8 direction Hellerau → get off at Festspielhaus Hellerau
Line 8 is expected to run on a detour route via Bahnhof Neustadt (Neustadt Station) and the Bischofsplatz S-Bahn station until June 2027, but will continue to reach HELLERAU directly.
Travel time from Dresden Central Station: around 40 minutes
from Dresden Neustadt Station
- Tram line 8 in the direction of Hellerau → get off at Festspielhaus Hellerau
- Alternatively, you can take S-Bahn line 2 toward the airport to S-Bf. Industriegelände → continue on tram line 8 toward Hellerau → Get off at Festspielhaus Hellerau
Travel time from Dresden Neustadt Station: around 25 minutes
from Dresden Airport
- S-Bahn 2 in the direction of Pirna Bahnhof → get off at S-Bf. Industriegelände → go up the stairs and then down the stairs again to the tram stop (Königsbrücker Straße) S-Bf. Industriegelände → tram line 8 in the direction of Hellerau → get off at Festspielhaus Hellerau
- Bus 80 in the direction of Klotzsche station → get off at "Zur Neuen Brücke" → change to bus 70 in the direction of Gompitz → get off at Brunnenweg → change to tram line 8 in the direction of Hellerau → get off at Festspielhaus Hellerau

from Dresden city centre
B97 (Königsbrücker Straße) towards the airport → After approx. 4 km turn left onto Moritzburger Weg (Infineon company visible on the right). → Take the next right onto Klotzscher Weg. → Follow the tram tracks via Am Hellerrand into Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. → After approx. 500 metres, you will see the entrance to the Festspielhaus on the right-hand side.
Start motorway A4
Exit Dresden-Hellerau → Turn left onto Radeburger Straße (B170) in the direction of Dresden-Hellerau/Dresden-Klotzsche. → After approx. 3.5 km, turn right at the traffic lights onto Ludwig-Kossuth-Straße. → Follow the tram tracks via Moritzburger Weg into Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. → After approx. 100 m, you will find the entrance to the Festspielhaus site on the left-hand side.
Parking
Free parking is available on the grounds of the Festspielhaus. This number is limited. The purchase or possession of an event ticket does not constitute entitlement to a parking space.
