Depth is no stranger to Betina Filips, aka Spilif. Bassist Felix saw her perform live on the tour for her new album “Elouise” and was blown away. That power of expression and quick wit, the double entendres, the playful humour, the rhythm! Just wow! It’s no surprise that award nominations such as the Amadeus (Betina is from Austria) and the German Record Critics’ Award are all vying for Spilif’s attention! In the FEATURE RING, we’ll be hearing both the award-worthy tracks from “Elouise” and ad-hoc jams that will depend entirely on the atmosphere in the hall.

Biography

Rapper Spilif (born in Innsbruck in 1989) discovered her love for the spoken and written word whilst studying German at school. For over 10 years now, the Austrian artist has been consistently writing her philosophical, conciliatory, self-critical and socially critical lyrics, as well as those conveying love. Since 2018, she has been performing these as a rapper on various festival and club stages. Together with her DJ and beat producer Rudi Montaire, she has already performed over 100 shows and opened for artists including Jeru the Damaja, Lord Finesse, Goldroger, MC Rene, Johnny Rakete and many more. As a further artistic step, in 2022 she brought together musician friends for her debut album, and an unmistakable, distinctive hip-hop band sound developed around the verbal acrobat. Spilif made her live debut with the band in front of a packed crowd at the Reeperbahn Festival in 2022. Her second album, “Elouise”, is due for release in autumn 2025 and will herald a new chapter in her artistic development.
