The opening day of the HYBRID Biennale concludes with a special audiovisual concert presented in collaboration with MUTEK:
Inspired by mythology and science fiction, “Les Empires” invites audiences to a surreal journey through imaginary worlds in the Grand Hall of the Festspielhaus. The hypnotic sounds of Guillaume Coutu Dumont – characterized by gentle percussion and rhythmic repetitions – evoke nostalgia for a lost era. Accompanying this, Line Katcho creates a visual odyssey with her unique images, bringing to life the eternal cycle of power, decay, and rebirth.

Biography

Guillaume Coutu Dumont, who trained in classical and Latin American percussion as well as electroacoustic composition, has been a key figure on the electronic music scene in Montréal since the early 2000s. His most recent works explore a nostalgic, analogue-influenced ambient style, rich in hypnotic repetitions and melodic warmth.

Line Katcho is a Montréal-based composer and audiovisual artist whose immersive works explore sound and image as forces of movement, tension and transformation. By combining abstraction with narrative elements, her artistic practice encompasses live performances, film, VR and architectural projections. She also works across disciplines in the fields of contemporary dance and sound design for video games.
