With a focus on media art from Taiwan, the HYBRID Biennale 2026 presents the Taipei-based creative lab and network NAXS Studio—which has been developing immersive theater, audiovisual performances, and XR and interactive installations since 2015—and the live artist and music producer Meuko! Meuko! with her latest album. Both projects open up new spaces for possibility and encounter while simultaneously revealing the ambivalence of technological proximity: they create forms of connection and encounter, while urging us to critically examine the new forms of isolation, distance, and alienation that can arise from digital technologies.

NAXS Studio is adapting its current VR project “Dark Rooms”—presented at the Venice Film Festival in 2025 and in Cannes in 2026—as a work-in-progress and an immersive room installation in which the audience can move freely. In this way, NAXS, together with the audience, explores a unique realm of possibilities within interactive VR media art: a space between intimacy, participation, and media experience, where visitors find themselves in virtual, safe worlds in which people discuss personal secrets, sexual experiences, and desires. VR is not merely established as an immersive medium here, but as a form of access to perspectives and spaces of experience that often remain hidden in everyday physical life.

Meuko! Meuko! presents its new live audiovisual project ENTER NONE—created in collaboration with visual artist Cr (Chrom1um)—as a European premiere at HELLERAU. The project enters into a dialogue with the present, past, and future, drawing on the concept of “nothingness” as an infinite field of chaos and transformation. With the help of immersive technologies and performative forms of expression, ENTER NONE seeks to channel a transformative energy that forms a contemporary ritual, interweaving the spiritual, the acoustic, and the mechanical. In this context, ENTER NONE represents a process of liberation, rebirth, and transcendence.

Biography

NAXS STUDIO was originally founded in 2015 by Ziii Kuo and Han-Yu Feng as the media art collective NAXS CORP. During its first ten years, the collective presented immersive theater, audiovisual performances, and XR and interactive installations within the global new media and contemporary art scenes. In 2021, the collective was restructured into NAXS GROUP to address a rapidly changing, increasingly digital world through a broader creative identity. Today, NAXS GROUP consists of two divisions: NAXS STUDIO focuses on the design of immersive experiences and interdisciplinary productions, while NON TECH is dedicated to experimental artistic practices.

Meuko! Meuko! (TW) live performer and music producer whose practice explores the poetics of sound through the deconstruction of electronic rhythm, chaotic sampling, and industrial sonic materiality. Her work evokes contemplative darkness while transforming the emotional turbulence of the contemporary metropolis into immersive perceptual fields, where noise becomes a medium through which sensation, memory, and spiritual resonance are continuously reconfigured. Her works have been presented at Transmediale, MUTEK, Unsound, Lunchmeat, Soft Centre, L.E.V. Madrid, Venice Biennale, Busan Biennale, and Némo Biennale France. Her released “Rebels of the Neon God” with music label Sea Cucumber and Taipei’s club FINAL.
