THE ART OF STAYING MANY

Nationwide Forums for Art, Freedom and Democracy

2024/25 Neuer Zirkus Gespräch Auswärts

The Fonds Darstellende Künste realizes forums with art, actions and debates throughout Germany. The journey starts in Berlin and continues to Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Potsdam, Erfurt, Weimar and Dresden. The mobile theater truck stops everywhere and connects theaters, festivals and independent production venues. Panels, workshops, international performances and gatherings invite people to debate art, freedom and democracy in order to engage in a polyphonic exchange on what is probably the most urgent task of our time: the art of remaining many.

For the finale of the nationwide forums, the Fonds Darstellende Künste, together with HELLERAU, the ZIRKUSTHEATER-FESTIVAL of the Societaetstheater and Zentralwerk e.V., invites you to a big festival of art on the Altmarkt under the motto COME TOGETHER to celebrate the community and the cohesion of the many in the run-up to the state elections. The acrobats of the French company LA BANDE À TYREX will unleash a whirling ballet of bicycles and music. Meanwhile, the performers from fachbetrieb rita grechen even invite you to cycle along: “Unser wunderschönes Sachsen” (Our beautiful Saxony) is a series of three bike tours into Saxony’s dead spots that can be ridden along by the audience or watched online via livestream, exploring the relationship between home, longing, accessibility, technology and idyll.

Meanwhile, the performance artist anna stiede from Thuringia and the performer and musician Tanja Krone are turning the Altmarkt into a ranting riot and attempting to use the growing discontent about the crises of the present as a life-affirming force for collective transformation. They want to try out East German grumbling as a cultural technique of pleasurable and polyphonic self-empowerment. A goal that is also pursued by the open rehearsal of the Zentralwerkchor under the direction of Marieluise Herrmann and Jakoba Schönbrodt-Rühl, where everyone is invited to sing along. “Whether with or without previous experience, solo or tutti – the important thing is that we listen to each other!” A motto that also applies to the entire series of forums. Food and drink will be provided by Dresden pizza bakers Calzone Revoluzione with their drinks and freshly prepared “Pizzas against Nazis”.
