Future Workshop – Art in the Periphery?
Opening HYBRID Pre-Shows in cooperation with Landesverband Bildende Kunst Sachsen e.V.
Hardly any other phenomenon is currently changing the arts as fundamentally as digitalisation – with the help of immersive technology, AI and algorithmic processes, not only new aesthetics are emerging, but also new formats, visibilities and presences of art. HYBRID Biennale, a new festival series on art in the digital age, will focus on the concept of the hybrid in its technological as well as political and social dimensions for the first time at HELLERAU from 20-30 October 2022.
The first themes of the biennial will be presented from 10-12 March 2022 in HYBRID Biennial pre-shows with positions by Julian Charrière, Shiva Feshareki or Tai Shani, among others. In addition, on 10 March 2022, in cooperation with the Landesverband Bildende Kunst Sachsen and introduced by a welcoming address by the Saxon State Minister for Culture and Tourism, Barbara Klepsch, in the “Future Workshop – Art in the Periphery?” potentials and perspectives of art in the regions as well as questions of visibility and presence in the digital age will be discussed.

15:15 Expert discussion
The focus will be on the discussion of the approach and results of the study “Art Venues in the Free State of Saxony” and the pilot project “Regional Experts in Visual Arts”. Representatives from the municipalities, the cultural areas and the Free State of Saxony are invited to discuss the effectiveness, potential and perspectives of art in the regions and its further strengthening.

16:30 Public panel discussion, release of annual magazine
The public panel discussion will take up questions and topics from the previous expert discussion. Following the panel discussion, we invite you to the official release and distribution of the current annual magazine of the Landesverband Bildende Kunst Sachsen “Sichtbarkeit. The Presence of Art”.
