2023/24 Dance Together Tanz

In this successful production by Swiss choreographer Nicole Seiler, the audience embarks on a choreographic walk through the garden city of Hellerau and encounters dancers who pursue their passion for dance dreamily and seemingly unseen – as they dance alone, in pairs or as a group in living rooms that are transformed into dance floors for an evening. These normally very intimate moments can be observed from the street with the help of binoculars and headphones. The production, which changes in each location, is created together with local amateur dancers who are given a very special stage for an evening, dancing tap, salsa, Argentine tango, expressive dance, samba or folk dances. Since the creation of “Living-room dancers” in 2008, the project has been on tour on 3 continents and in more than 25 cities. It remains to be seen which dances the audience will encounter on their walk through the garden city of Hellerau. At the end of the walk through the garden city, a documentary film about the passion for dance and portraits of the individual dancers will be shown in the Festspielhaus.

Please wear weather appropriate clothing.

Duration: ca. 2 h, the walk takes ca. 1 h 30 min and is not barrier-free

Nicole Seiler is a choreographer and filmmaker. She founded her company in 2002 and has realized over thirty projects to date. She has established herself as a key figure in the Swiss contemporary dance scene. Her research is characterized by innovative and unique projects that have led to a variety of formats: choreographic stage shows, videos and films, performances and choreographic installations that are often site-specific and actively involve the audience in the interpretation. In recent years, Seiler’s reflections have focused on the relationship between image and sound and on the description of movement, both from a historical and personal perspective, and on the question of how image and sound are linked in memories. Nicole Seiler has received numerous awards, including the Prix Suisse des Arts de la Scène in 2021.
