2024/25 Tanz Performance

*A day ticket for 15.01. is valid for both ‘Letters Home. Otium & Letters Home. Imprint’ and ‘InnerVoice-dot-ru’

This participatory documentary performance ‘InnerVoice-dot-ru’ is about the boundaries of personality in terms of dictatorship and repressive state politics. It is based on the statements of citizens who have remained in Russia, who are against the regime and the war and who continue their resistance from the inside.

The audience plays an active role in the performance: using the instructions, they affect the dramaturgy of action to a certain extent. Together with the performer, they create the space for co-existing and togetherness in a collective reflection of how it is to live inside a dictatorship with aggressive internal and external policies.

Duration: ca. 50 min

Masha Sapizhak is a Berlin-based performance artist and theater maker in exile. In her work, she is primarily interested in reflecting on social and political contexts: human rights, environmental justice, causes and consequences of violence. She collects and questions private stories on various levels. As a theater and performance creator, she has already realized over 20 productions – in various regions of Russia, in Georgia, in Germany and also in collaboration with artists from Finland, Norway and Great Britain. Her production “Wir holen uns die Nacht zurueck” has been nominated for the IKARUS Award as one of the most remarkable theater performances for young adults in Berlin. For her, the most important thing about any kind of art is to create a space for communication and open dialog.
