Celebration of 20 years of the German Composers’ Archive
Ensemble El Perro Andaluz
The German Composers’ Archive, once a project of HELLERAU and partners such as the GEMA Foundation, is today a culturally interesting but unfortunately closed collection. The concert and the panel discussion entitled “What to do with the estate?” are intended to address the fundamental problems of housing composers’ estates.

An event organised by the Association of Friends and Supporters of the German Composers’ Archive, supported by the Hilfsfonds des Deutschen Komponist*innenverbandes and the Amt für Kultur und Denkmalschutz der Landeshauptstadt Dresden.
El Perro Andaluz was founded in 2007 in collaboration with Brian Ferneyhough and is now one of the most versatile ensembles for contemporary music in Germany. The name refers to the short film “Un chien andalou” and its creative provocation. The ensemble works in music theater, installations, concerts and music education projects. In addition to interpreting existing works, it is important to the ensemble to help shape new compositions. Over 80 composers have already worked with El Perro Andaluz. Since 2016, the ensemble, which was awarded the City of Dresden’s Cultural Promotion Prize, has been based at the “Zentralwerk” cultural center, where it develops transdisciplinary projects.
