About the German Dance Platform

The German Dance Platform understands itself as a forum for presenting current developments and innovative trends in contemporary dance within and out of Germany.  The Dance Platform was founded 1994 by Nele Hertling, Walter Heun and Dieter Buroch and began as a trilogy in Berlin, Frankfurt and München. Since then, it has been held biennially in different German cities and is awarded by the community of co-organizers, which determines the respective host and sponsor. The community of co-organizers includes all institutions that have hosted the Dance Platform in recent years and are actively involved in promoting contemporary dance in Germany.
