Ukrainian folklore in a modern jazz guise. But if you ask the Ukrainian with Russian roots about the content of the reinterpreted folk songs, it becomes more serious: “It’s about all kinds of pain that people experience.” These themes and the rich culture of Ukraine are incredibly valuable even beyond all current events and deserve everyone’s attention. Music as a universal language is the needle and thread that connects our world here and now with the folklore of another country. The jazz blanket spreads out like a cloak that envelops, feels safe and gives warmth, which is needed more urgently than ever today.
