Tag der Städtebauförderung (Day of urban development)

2023/24 Führung

The Office for Urban Planning and Mobility cordially invites Dresden’s citizens to take a look behind the scenes of the Festspielhaus Hellerau. During guided tours, you can find out what has been redesigned so far with the help of funding.

The renovation work on the listed east wing, which will be completed in 2024, will provide completely new insights and perspectives into the building. A residence and rehearsal center for the European Center for the Arts Hellerau (EZKH) will be created in the former barracks.

The entire Festspielhaus site is a key urban regeneration project within the “Gartenstadt Hellerau” development area. A total of around 14 million euros in urban development funding from the federal government and the Free State of Saxony from the “Urban Monument Protection” and “Vibrant Centers” programs has been invested in the entire site to date, supplemented by a further 12 million euros from the state capital of Dresden.
