Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos (BO) & PHØNIX16 (DE)

Musik

The Bolivian Experimental Orchestra for Indigenous Instruments (OEIN) and the vocal collective PHØNIX16 from Berlin are jointly developing a project that combines the pre-Columbian musical culture of the Aymara with experimental voice use.

Together they embark on an artistic journey that revolves around the multilayered concept of “environment” (surroundings, environment, milieu): social, nature-related, political, philosophical, acoustic and as an artistic form and practice. Founded in 1980, the OEIN is a unique contemporary music formation based in La Paz. Their practice is rooted in the pre-Columbian musical culture of the Aymara, while their artistic means of expression are committed to experimental music. Together with PHØNIX16, known for daring projects of high musical intensity and quality, the 30 musicians* and singers* start a process of research and experimentation. They are searching for a common artistic basis in mutual change and in recognition of cultural differences and the complex heritage of colonialism.
