House of Velvet is a short film that follows a day in the life of the members of the Kiki House of Velvet. Scattered moments from their everyday experiences in the outside world unravel as they all reunite in the safety of their chosen family. Scripted scenes intertwined with authentic and lived experiences of the characters show how ballroom culture intertwines with their lives and vice versa.

The Kiki House of Velvet is the first Czech-Slovakian Kiki House. It was founded in 2016 by Mother Monika Velvet and Father Viktor Velvet, who have been active in the local ballroom scene for over 10 years. The film team led by Ivana Hucíková and Igor Smitka won the award for best cinematography in a short film from the Slovak Association of Cinematographers in 2023.
