In 2005, curator, author and director Gesine Danckwart interviewed (East) employees* of the Palast der Republik, politicians, artists* and guests who had wandered through the Palast Ruine as part of the Volkspalast screening in Berlin. The result is a unique contemporary document with very personal stories of memory and reflections on the “Wende”.
Gesine Danckwart develops theatre, film and media art projects as curator, author and director. She works with state theatres and in free international contexts to create projects that tell stories of reality. In the art space or in the fictionalized urban backdrop, in real and media space.
She is the artistic director of the formation Chez Company. We show “Goldstaub”, a video installation that was part of the Volkspalast installation in 2005 and will be shown in a newly edited version in HELLERAU. Protagonists of the past and present will have their say. A series of quite lost employees, politicians, artists* and guests wandering through the ruins. About remembering, and who actually owns the center.
