Artist-in-Garden Residenzen

Sharing: Verwandtschaften (Kinship)

2023/24 Performance Installation Residenz Kulturgarten

In its second edition, HELLERAU once again offered Artist-in-Garden residencies for artists working in the Kulturgarten behind the Festspielhaus. Under the motto “Kinship”, artists from a total of four selected projects used the Kulturgarten in June and September for artistic research and experimentation. In “Sharing”, the progress of three projects is shared.

About the artists

The local collective HOWHOW set up an open studio where they provided insights into field research and production processes. The temporary “Kartellamt 6000” performatively places itself on the ground protectively – against monopolization, displacement and competition with land as a scarce commodity.

Tis Aly and Suzanne Stavast explore practices of care and nurturing, establishing a space for knowledge exchange and sharing in the Kulturgarten. Within cross-art movement sessions, they work with dance as a healing process and communication tool that unites the physical and metaphysical body.

Amelia Uzategui Bonilla and Daniela Zambrano engage with restitution within their residency, seeking responses to the colonial reality of institutions. They connect to their indigenous heritage through ritual practices such as dance, gardening, music, cooking, and crafts.
