HELLERAUmoves: Jasper Narvaez (Akram Khan Company)

Inspired by the world of ‘Chotto Desh’, Akram Khan Company’s much-loved production blending storytelling, memory, and movement, this workshop invites participants aged 16 and up with some previous dance experience. All are welcome who are curious to deepen their creative exploration through dance.
Beginning with a dynamic warm-up rooted in the company’s signature movement language, the session will guide you through creative tasks that explore rhythm, repetition, and physical precision. You will be encouraged during the workshop to connect emotionally to movement and delve into themes of identity and belonging while learning choreographic phrases drawn directly from ‘Chotto Desh’.

Jasper Narvaez (he/him) is a Filipino dance artist based in London, UK. He started training at the Philippine High School for the Arts and Ballet Philippines Dance School, later obtaining a BFA with First Class Honours at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He then worked as a performer with the Akram Khan Company, AURA Dance Theatre, Jukstapoz Company and as a guest teacher/artist for Rambert, Henny Jurriëns Studio, Clod Ensemble, English National Ballet and Ballet Philippines among others. He joined Akram Khan Company in 2019 and toured as a dancer with productions Outwitting the Devil, Chotto Xenos and KAASH Revival.
