The Role and Effect of the Free Scene in Russia

Hardly anyone knows the works of the independent scene in Russia as well as the journalist, critic and curator Kristina Matvienko. For years she has been following the developments of independent theatre, as theatre editor of the “Time Out” magazine in Moscow, as curator and organiser of many festivals, including the Russian showcase within the framework of the festival “The Golden Mask”. A close working relationship connects her with the Electroteatr Stanislawski. In her lecture Kristina Matvienko will give an overview of works of the independent scene in recent years in Moscow, St. Petersburg and beyond.
