WuW–Wind und Wand

ZINADA

2024/25 Watch Out explore dance Tanz

‘WUW’ is an abbreviation for ‘WIND UND WAND’ (‘WIND AND WALL’) and describes a 40-minute dance performance for young audiences aged 10+. The metaphors of the wind and the wall symbolize the ambivalent relationship between children and their parents and the gap between their wishes and reality, they stand for intertwined thoughts and emotions and unclear interim periods. No longer a child and not yet a teenager – The time before puberty is both a formative and challenging phase. At the same time, it is a playful journey with many surprises, adventures, parties and unexpected transformations. Inspired by the way the wind changes its shape, ZINADA explores creative ways to overcome walls.

To describe Benny Omerzell (Austria, 1984) solely in terms of his virtuosity on the keys would not do him justice as a musician. He is a sound creator who is as much at home with the time-based medium of animated film as he is with music. Like a sculptor, he moves in the musical space, adding and taking away, solely to capture the essence of the moment. He is a band member of Kompost3 and 5K HD, plays and writes for the Vorarlberg Jazz Orchestra, composes piano, dance, theatre and film music and most recently for string quartet and jazz orchestra, and is also involved in a variety of other projects as a musician and composer.
