Adrienn Hód/HODWORKS
The experimental church singer Zoltán Mizsei embodies a voice of power that rules over a group of performers and sends them (moral) rules, orders and instructions. The group reacts to this voice and uses performative means to address their personal freedom and the threat to it. Scene by scene, power and the abuse of power are demonstrated in exemplary fashion – from the controlling and the controlled, the parent and the child, the preacher and the believer, etc., until everything comes apart at the seams. Uncompromising and full of dark humor, HODWORKS reflect a society that is increasingly alienated from itself through its unavoidable obedience to authority figures.

Adrienn Hód (*1975) is a choreographer specializing in contemporary dance and experimental movement. She founded the company HODWORKS in 2007. With her ensemble, she playfully and often provocatively focuses on the moving human body – freed from taboos and prejudices. Their themes range from universal human experiences to specific criticism of the world of contemporary dance. HODWORKS are regular guests at international festivals and their performances have been selected three times by Aerowaves. Hód is a multiple winner of the Rudolf Lábán and Imre Zoltán prizes in Hungary. She lives in Vienna and Budapest.
