What answers can music give to our modern society and its current questions and problems? In her staged concert entitled “Dies irae”, the Moldovan violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja wants to set a musical example: Together with the Orchestra of Change, she embarks on a musical search for traces through the centuries. Starting with the “Dies irae”, the shattering medieval hymn about the end of the world, the musicians explore moods, fears and feelings of the respective time on the basis of compositions from the Baroque to works after 1945. Kopatchinskaja courageously directs the gaze out of the comfortable concert hall into our world, whose beauty is threatened by hunger, wars, environmental destruction and climatic changes.

“Dies irae”

A staged concert with works by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, George Crumb, John Dowland, Michael Hersch, Antonio Lotti, Giacinto Scelsi, Galina Ustwolskaja u.a.
