Morwan
Morwan is one of the most original artists to emerge from the thriving Eastern European post-punk scene in recent years. In search of new sound aesthetics, musician Alex Ashtaui returns to his half-Ukrainian, half-Arab roots – mixing the dark, driving rhythms of post-punk with ritualistic Arabic and Slavic motifs to create futuristic tracks. Lyrically, Morwan’s deep reverence for nature is evident: “Nature acts as a force in my songs that you can’t escape. Using metaphors specifically related to nature, I share some of my personal experiences and stories.”
Since the formation of the band project in 2019, Morwan has released two albums “UbilaMogila” (2019) and “Zola-Zemlya” (2020). He collaborates with labels such as Detriti Records, Death Shadows Records, Feel It Records, Reclusion Records. Currently he is working on the release of his third album.
