with Alessandro Sciarroni
In “Save the last dance for me”, the Italian choreographer Alessandro Sciarroni works together with the two dancers Gianmaria Borzillo and Giovanfrancesco Giannini on the steps of an old Bolognese dance called Polka Chinata. The dance dates back to the early 20th century and was originally only danced by men. Almost forgotten, Alessandro Sciarroni rediscovered this dance and brought it back to life. As part of the performances, the two dancers also offer a 2-hour workshop to learn the basic steps of the Polka Chinata.
No previous experience is necessary. Please bring comfortable clothing and towelling socks or thick socks.

Gianmaria Borzillo is a dancer and performer. He studied dance and performing arts at the Civica Scuola Paolo Grassi in Milan. He has worked with Dana Yahalomi and the collective Public Movement. He is currently working with the Italian visual artist Alessandro Carboni and with Alessandro Sciarroni, with whom he has already collaborated on two of his works, “Augusto” (2018) and “Save the last dance” (2019).
Giovanfrancesco Giannini currently works with dance companies and choreographic research projects such as Alessandro Sciarroni, Cia Aiep Ariella Vidach (Milan), Cie Eco Emilio Calcagno (Parigi), Fabbrica Europa (Florence), Cia Korper (Naples), ZA Danceworks. His works have participated in festivals and venues including NaoPerforming Festival, FOG Triennale performing festival, Fabbrica Europa, Romaeuropa, CCDC festival Hong Kong, Korperformer, Santarcangelo Festival.
