Am Königsweg nach Elfriede Jelinek – MACHT#1
the guts company

For the first production in the cycle “Power to Whom”, the guts company is dealing with the theatre text Am Königsweg by Elfriede Jelinek. The evening explores the thesis: without mass, no power. But also the question of what people are prepared to leave behind just to belong to this mass?
Two dancers on stage and an actress on 11 screens engage in a great round of leading and following – submission, wordiness, dazzling, promise, repetition – the ingredients for successful leadership over a mass of identity-hungry, finally-no-longer-orientationless, however-upstanding new citizens. With the means of dance and an abridged version of Elfriede Jelinek’s text, the guts company transforms the theme of power into a large, crowded and multi-layered negotiation between top and bottom.
