Have you ever wanted to be part of the creation of a dance piece? Here’s your chance! Now you can be involved in the creative process and influence an evening of dance. To kick off the season, the new ensemble will be introducing itself with a very special creation.
“À la carte” consists of longer and shorter scenes, the order of which is not fixed. Thanks to the different props, sound effects, music and lighting, the scenes allow for a variety of dance styles, atmospheres and themes. However, the focal point remains the encounter between the ensemble and the audience – just like cooking a meal together. Almost nothing that the dancers do in this production is predetermined. All movements arise from the meeting between the different bodies and from the contact with you. Each evening therefore becomes a unique experience.
The ensemble’s first performance under its new artistic director presents their fresh take on dance: the creative exchange between the artists and their audience is the foundation for the future.

The Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company is a contemporary dance ensemble under the artistic direction of Ioannis Mandafounis. It develops, presents and communicates dance with the desire to bring people together, inspire and excite them about dance. The Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company combines contemporary thinking and dance tradition by experimenting and rethinking and developing traditional notions of choreography. Ioannis Mandafounis’ understanding of dance is unmistakable: the application of the methodology he has developed brings to the stage a dance and choreographic result that is improvised but appears as if planned. This empowers the artists and creates a collaborative process between the dancers and the audience.
The Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company is at home at the two residency venues HELLERAU – European Center for the Arts in Dresden and the Bockenheimer Depot in Frankfurt am Main and, as an internationally sought-after ensemble, regularly goes on guest performance tours. It offers a comprehensive range of educational and mediation services with the aim of facilitating cultural and aesthetic experiences regardless of origin, socialization, education, age and physical condition.
