Gob Squad

For their new production “Handle With Care”, Gob Squad deliberately set out in search of encounters, striving to create liabilities out of coincidences. The focus is on questions of accessibility and participation, empathy and shared responsibility: How can we come together and under what conditions? Who owns what here and why? Who is excluded? Who cares about what, and who cares about it? What divides us? And what might unite us?

During their residency at HELLERAU, Gob Squad will explore places in the neighborhood of the theater as part of the development process and establish first local contacts in a playful encounter format.

Gob Squad is a British-German collective from Berlin that has been collaborating on live performances at the intersection of theater, art and media since 1994. In search of beauty and relevance in the everyday, they place their works both in theaters and in the midst of urban life. Utopian scenarios meet the reality of a concrete situation, the outcome of which is often uncertain. By creating alternative meeting spaces and formats, Gob Squad has been contributing to breaking down interpersonal barriers since their beginnings.
