During the residency in HELLERAU, the dancer and cheographer Alice Heyward will work on the project “Brigid”. “Brigid’ is a performance that explores the mythological screaming figure of the Banshee – a female spirit of Irish folklore who announces the death of a family member with her scream – to speculate on death, mourning, fear and the supernatural in contemporary contexts. Working on convoking different registers of presence, modes of attention, connection and feeling through the Banshee’s vocal and mythical imaginaries, ‘Brigid’ seeks to explore never ending cries, shaped into voluminous ever changing spaces of grief in relation to the conceptual, physical and sonic material it encounters.
