“The end of the world, the end of the month – the same system, the same fight” says one of the slogans from the Yellow Vests protests in France in 2018, against carbon fuel taxes imposed by the neoliberal government mainly on the French working class. What kind of class struggle stands behind the ecological crisis? Is climate change a class war and if yes – how do we position ourselves in that? And what does contemporary choreography and performance have to do with it?

During this workshop we will discuss and work with our personal fears about the end of the world and at the end of the month. How do these grand challenges of our times like climate change and the structural and systemic processes of class exclusion and discrimination, resonate with our individual stories and experiences? How do they influence our lives? Is personal still political nowadays? And how can the autobiographical or personal become performative material?

Personal stories and autobiographical materials that you would like to work with are welcome (but are not mandatory). Bring comfortable clothes in which you can move freely. We will try to dance – at the end of the world and/or at the end of the month. There is no proper technique for this, so we will have to come up with our own together.

Duration: ca. 2 h
Language: English
The workshop is suitable to everyone 16 years and older
