The call for performing arts groups for Moving Identities 2025-26 is now open!
This open call is for art groups based in Denmark, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Spain, or Latvia to explore and work with themes of European identities, diversity, and inclusion.
Join us for a year-long exchange with residencies, seminars, mentoring, and cross-border collaboration. We’re offering the opportunity for your performing arts group to develop a project and artistic vision through three paid residencies – one in Germany, and two abroad (Spain and Norway) at our partner institutions.

Moving Identities is a pioneering residency programme that aims to provide a transformative platform for performing artists across Europe. Focusing on themes of diversity and inclusion within the context of contemporary European identities, Moving Identities fosters collaboration, cultural exchange, and artistic exploration. Through its three-year programme, Moving Identities aims to redefine boundaries, challenge conventions, and ignite conversations.
For how long will we be in residency? What do we need to consider?
You will get the opportunity to work intensely with a project for one year. You describe the idea for your project in the application.
Throughout the year you will be in residency three places in Europe – each time for two weeks. One of the residencies will be in your country of residence, the others are abroad. In each case, you are assigned a local host and mentor.
The residencies are paid.
Artist groups based in Germany:
- Residency (Local): 8.-19. October 2025, HELLERAU in Dresden, Germany
- Residency (International): 11.-22. November 2025, NAU IVANOW in Barcelona, Spain
- Residency (International): 9.-20. March 2026, DAVVI, Hammerfest, Norway
Is Moving Identities for us?
Moving Identities is for performing arts companies or groups with a strong artistic vision and/or practice related to the themes of modern European identity, inclusion, and diversity.
All company/group members must be residents of the country they are applying from with a valid work permit.
Artists who are underrepresented in the performing arts across Europe are prioritised.
