Lisa can’t have children, is abandoned, freaks out. Laura is eagerly awaiting her wedding, the highlight of every woman’s life. Barbara is lost since becoming a widow, a little dog helps. Verena inherits a luxury villa with a lake view, she rises. Jolie is fired and becomes pregnant. Petra finds love and moves. Tina is very afraid and makes a decision.

In her second novel, Jovana Reisingers celebrates the women she names after women’s magazines. She points out the role constraints and violence to which women are subjected in our society. And tips, tricks and gender stereotypes are negotiated. It is a text about female rage and perseverance with partly wicked humour, but which never condemns its protagonists.

Screening: Men in Trouble (HELLERAU Edition)

The six-part talk show Men in Trouble follows a presenter through the highlights and disasters of her own programme. Guests who are unwilling to talk, a director who is happy to let her down and, above all, the attempt to deal with the really big issues: Happiness, love, money, beauty, sex and faith.

In Men in Trouble, filmmaker Jovana Reisinger negotiates gender roles, patriarchal structures and power relations.

The talk show Men in Trouble was created as part of the exhibition and mediation programme Disappointment at the Kunsthalle Osnabrück. The exhibition was supported by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture, the Foundation of Lower Saxony, the OLB Foundation and the Freund:innen of the Kunsthalle. The installation was realised with the kind support of Gering Gerüstbau. The film shoot was realised in cooperation with Theater Osnabrück.
