Soft somatic fleshy dances
Sveta Grigorjev
The workshop revolves mainly around care – somatics, somatic fictioning, meditation, slowness, slow pleasure, vegetating through dance, therapeutic movement, resting through dance, massage, exploring skin and flesh of oneself and others. We might also read and write somatic-based texts as well.
For whom?
All tired, stressed, and dreamy bodies are welcome. And of course, all other bodies as well. No previous movement experience is necessary – the main thing is the desire to move and to explore softness, slowness and pleasure within and through oneself and others. The workshop is based on the creative methods of Sveta Grigorjeva’s performance “Dances to Fall Asleep, Dream, and Resist To” where participants could move, lounge and “lounge-move”.

Further Context
“Practices of Sharing and Receiving” is a three-day gathering (23. – 25.08.) at HELLERAU hosted by a group of 6 practitioners – Gerko Ergert, Pankaj Tiwari, Petr Dlouhý, Rency Philip, Sveta Grigorjeva & Tilman Aumüller – coming from Germany, the Netherlands, India, the Czech Republic, and Estonia. The gathering provides a space where participants can engage in moments of collective inquiry, challenge conventional formats, and push the boundaries of knowledge creation through embodied, experiential practices.
Sveta Grigorjeva is an Estonian choreographer, dancer, poet and critic. She has published three poetry collections “who is afraid of sveta grigorjeva” (2013) “American beauty” (2018) and “Frankenstein” (2023) and antology of her reviews and essays titled „Clitoris is Anarchist“. Her stage productions include “Rebel Body Orchestra” (2017), “FAKERZ“ (2021) and “Dances to Dream, Res(is)t and Sleep to” (2023) which won the best dance award in Estonia in 2024. As an artist, she is interested in the Spinoza-influenced belief that we do not know yet what the body can do and the subversive nature and potential of expressive body and text. In autumn 2022 she finished her second MA at the Justus Liebig-Universität in Giessen, Germany and started her doctorate at Estonian Music- and Theatre Academy in 2023 where she is investigating political potential of form in contemporary dance.
The workshop will be held in English, either in the cultural garden in HELLERAU or indoors, in a rehearsal studio. The workshop is attentive to diverse energy levels. One does not need to participate all the time. For detailed accessibility information, contact Petr Dlouhý (ptrdlouhy@gmail.com).
