BERG Orchestra & 420PEOPLE

2025/26 Tanz Musik

The Czech BERG Orchestra, one of the leading international ensembles specializing in contemporary music and which has commissioned and premiered over three hundred new works since it was founded in 1995, provides an exciting start to the 2025/26 season for new music. It often combines music with other art forms or in unconventional projects outside traditional concert halls. Inspired by the famous composition “In C” by the American minimalist Terry Riley, BERG Orchestra developed the project “INspiraCe” together with the composer Tomáš Reindl, the choreographer Sylva Šafková and the dance company 420PEOPLE. This unique and energetic concert performance, which combines minimalism, beatbox, dubstep and contemporary dance with an impressive light sculpture, will ceremoniously open the 27th Czech-German Culture Days in HELLERAU on October 30.

More infos

420PEOPLE is a collective of artists that stands for exceptional performance quality and the highest level of professionalism. Their pieces are characterized by playfulness and courage and bring a rich vocabulary of contemporary dance to the stage. Improvisation is just as much a matter of course as open dialog with the audience – for example in the form of post-performance discussions. At the center of 420PEOPLE are Václav Kuneš and his artistic companions from various disciplines, who realize their vision and create works that are associated with the label “Made by Czech”, but at the same time form proud and indispensable components of the international dance scene.

The BERG Orchestra is dedicated to promoting new music and attracting new audiences. It combines sounds with other art forms such as dance, theater or film and is always looking for unusual performance venues – for example in a future subway station or a former sewage treatment plant. It has already premiered over two hundred works by young Czech composers, as well as numerous Czech premieres by international greats such as Heiner Goebbels, Fausto Romitelli and György Ligeti. In addition to concerts, the ensemble develops new formats such as soundwalks and educational projects for all generations. It cooperates with important artists and institutions, including the National Theater Prague and Czech Radio. In 2021, the orchestra was awarded the prestigious Prix Italia for its imaginative “Music for Sirens”.
