The Sebastian Weber Dance Company, known for its energetic, visually striking tap dancing, returns this time to HELLERAU with a large band. ‘Glitz’ is a dazzling concert performance with a large cast and excellent live music. Sebastian Weber and Company go back to the beginning of their own passion for dance: dancing in clubs, at parties, until the early hours of the morning. The piece is loud and colourful, celebrating the culture of the night, the intoxication of utopia. A passionate, defiant, funny, poetic homage to the transformative power of pop.

Sebastian Weber began his career under the tutelage of legendary tap dance masters such as Chuck Green and Buster Brown in New York. Between 1998 and 2017, he created numerous full-length productions as a choreographer and dancer, combining tap dance with other dance forms, as well as contemporary music, film, theatre and performance. Weber has twice been awarded the Leipzig Movement Art Prize and has been invited to perform throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. In 2017, he founded the Sebastian Weber Dance Company, with which he focuses on the sound of tap dance on the one hand and reinterprets it as a visual language of movement on the other. This was followed by national and international guest performances and excellence grants, as well as a residency at the Hessian State Ballet. In 2019, the production Cowboys was awarded the Saxon Dance Prize.
