The Spaniard Lucia Martinez realized early on in courses on traditional Galician percussion, what power and how much sound is behind percussion. This was followed by studies in classical percussion, another in jazz percussion and composition, and finally film music. All this comes together and shapes her style as a mixture of Galician folk music, flamenco and jazz. She belongs to a new generation of European jazz musicians who integrate southern traits into their art. The love of openness merges with the love of jazz. But she goes one step further in the direction of freedom and playfully expands the classic jazz drumset with all kinds of objects and imaginative sounds. With resounding success.
