brach und wild – a performative excerpt

time & s_pace Performance 2022/23

Can we gain insights into human life by observing flora? Magdalena Weniger (performance) and Maren Wickwire (film) turn to fallows in the landscape, as well as human biographies, researching their creation, development and exploring their potential. In 2021 they created an audiovisual tour, a performative installation on a wasteland. What remains for time & s_pace (a video installation and) are three performers:inside who move through the Festspielhaus Hellerau in safari costume, embodying in their movements the restlessness, uncertainty, curiosity, excitement and self-centeredness that manifest themselves in times of upheaval and reorientation.

Under the label KOMA & Ko Magdalena Weniger and Linda Pilar Brodhag develop performances for stages, offspaces and public spaces – between Freiburg and Dresden. They favor changing collaborations with colleagues. In the core team Helena Steurer in the area of production and artistic collaboration in all projects and recurrently with Bettina Kletzsch (equipment/ Dresden), Martin Mulik (light design/ Dresden), Jarii van Gohl (sound/ Berlin) and Veit B. Arlt (dramaturgy/ Freiburg).

Their versatile training is reflected in the facets of their work, which playfully moves between performance and installation, song, dance and experimental space-sound experience. What burns under their nails with regard to social discourse is distilled in their works through striking metaphors and processed with an intuitive-associative approach. They are closely associated with Hellerau- Europäisches Zentrum der Künste, Zentralwerk e.V. Dresden and E- WERK Freiburg.
