Exploring Echoes: Liera Polianskova
October 2024
The concept of the state border is mainly interpreted as a phenomenon of the political world — the world of people. Wild boars crossing the river — from the bank of Ukraine to the bank of Romania, lizards traveling on trains from Italy to Germany, in turn, wolves running from Germany to Poland — a constant cycle independent of EU passports and checkpoints, of map lines. But, just like the Karman line, this independence turns out to be conditional. And at some point we will find out — both for aircraft and for some migrating birds, the territory of Ukraine has become a no-fly zone. War — a constant, but not obvious, variable of history — manifests territorial boundaries; delineates the borders of our memory, our identity.
Thinking about this — new — reality for her, the media Artist Liera Polianskova often thinks about migratory birds — the lines of new routes in their memory maps, about the voices that our parabolic microphones will no longer hear.
In an Open Studio on 19.10. at 15 h, Liera Polianskova will share insights into her research to all that are interested.
