Residency Program: House of Research
House of Research is an annually recurring residency format initiated by Studio ALTA, an independent art institution in Prague. In a cooperation between Studio ALTA and HELLERAU, a total of 6 artists were selected, 3 artists each are invited for residencies at Studio ALTA and HELLERAU. In joint open studios in Prague and Dresden, the artists and institutions will exchange ideas and provide feedback at the end of the residencies.
Studio ALTA is one of the leading Czech independent institutions with over 15 years of history. Every year, Studio ALTA hosts over 100 local and international artists in more than 200 events. Studio ALTA is not only a place of presentation, but also a place of learning. Studio ALTA hosts various residencies, master classes, networking sessions and workshops, enabling both long-term and short-term artistic research. ALTA creates a safe space and a laboratory for artists working mainly in the performing arts, but also having a close relationship with other forms and disciplines. For this reason, Studio ALTA is one of the most important places in the Czech infrastructure for independent art. It provides the necessary contacts, space for creative work and places for the presentation of works. Through its international aspect, it also enables international exchange for the local artist community.
