About the residency program

As part of a one-week residency at HELLERAU, four experienced artists from Poland, the Czech Republic, Belarus, and Germany come together—each with a well-established background in dance and performance. As mid-career artists, they find themselves at a point where they can draw on a wealth of artistic practice, stage works, and international experience—while continuing to explore new questions and directions in their work.

The residency offers space to share individual approaches, artistic interests, and personal developments. Through open exchange, the artists will explore aesthetic strategies, thematic focuses, and the challenges of working within their respective cultural and political contexts. In addition to offering practical insights into their practices, the residency will foster reflection on sustainable working methods, intergenerational dialogue, and the value of artistic autonomy.

This encounter brings together four voices not at the beginning of their careers—but open to new impulses, collaborations, and future-facing questions.
