Artist-in-Garden: Victor Artiga

June 2025

Victor Artiga Rodriguez is a multidisciplinary artist and educator. He is researching the project “Thoughts on Fluid Assemblages” during a two-week Artist-in Garden residency in HELLERAU’s Kulturgarten in June. “Thoughts on Fluid Assemblages”, is a research project that examines the condition of water sources and how their contamination affects the bodies of humans and non-humans, placing particular attention on the effects of agrochemical pesticides in the soil. Questioning how this contamination manifests as maladies into the body on a micro political scale, for instance as problems in our kidneys.

Victor Artiga Rodriguez is a multidisciplinary artist and educator, whose work proposes a critical reflection of the often opaque structures of oppression and climate degradation that exist within techno-capitalist societies. Through performance and multimedia installations, he seeks to craft speculative narratives that entangle phenomena of collective memory, poetics, more-than-human worlds and digital technologies. In his recent works, he has focused on researching the impact of agrochemical pesticides in underground water sources, and the harmful effects on the bodies of communities in the Global South. His performances and works have been shown in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Japan, France, United States, Cuba, and Germany
