Reason NOW!: Maria Kvalheim

May & August - September 2024

Maria Kvalheim (NO) is a scenographer and performer. She is interested in how sensory work can affect the movement of an audience. Maria Kvalheim works with the Dresden-based theater network fachbetrieb rita grechen where she explores scenography as a practice to play with the potential of architecture and how a body can perform there. During the residency she will work with a continuation of the project “11 234 556 768 456 kroner”, which has developed from the market value of the Norwegian Oil funding. The early body of research concerned studying the geology of Oslo about 2 billion years ago, when the oil was first formed. She is now interested in researching how the counting market value number of the Norwegian oil funding is defined and expressed as a rhythm. This rhythm is the core of a choreography, that she tries to disrupt with voices.
