To mark National Heritage Day, HELLERAU invites visitors to explore the Festspielhaus, the East Wing—which opened in September 2025—and the entire grounds in a variety of ways. Visitors can look forward to guided tours for all ages, exciting glimpses into areas of the building that are normally off-limits, and exclusive previews of the 2026/2027 season.
The popular neighborhood tour “The Garden City of Hellerau under National Socialism,” led by historians Claudia Dietze and Robert Badura, is also back on the program.
In addition, visitors can explore the two audio walks by Studio Urbanistan on their own:
“BALANCE—An Audio Walk Through the Garden City” is an artistic audio walk that guides participants along winding paths and past architectural landmarks of the Garden City in search of their own sense of balance.
The new audio walk “Spulen – An Audio Walk About Upheavals, New Beginnings, and Empty Spaces” invites you to travel back to the 1990s—a time when, after decades of military use, HELLERAU evolved into a free space for artistic experimentation.
Each audio walk lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes. MP3 players can be borrowed at the HELLERAU Visitor Center (pickup on the day of the event by 14:00 at the latest).
The detailed program will be available from the beginning of September.
