The solo piece “SHELLING” is based on a physical exploration of inner fragmentation, vulnerability and resilience. The title evokes concepts such as a shell, but also impact or collision, bringing the body into focus as a protective shell and as a space shaped by external forces. The piece listens to a quiet inner voice that emerges through contradiction, repetition and disruption. Shaped by the multi-layered personal stories and those passed down through generations that the body carries within, the movement unfolds through intuitive impulses, breakdowns and reconfigurations. Rather than illustrating memories, Yasmeen Godder expresses the body’s pent-up tension, its opacity and moments of adaptation. In her solo, an intimate encounter with the body as a living archive unfolds: porous, resilient and constantly realigning itself.
