Audio description & haptic access tours
In collaboration with Gravity Access Services Berlin, HELLERAU offers audio description (AD) and haptic access tours at various events.
By offering events with audio description, as many people as possible can experience contemporary developments within the performing arts on current issues of our time.
Audio description provides access to the visual elements of a dance piece or performance, including the plot, costumes, locations, gestures, facial expressions, objects and other visual communication elements.
Audio description is a live audio track spoken by a professional audio narrator via a wireless headset system for audience members with visual impairments.
Gravity's team of audio narrators consists of professional dancers and actors trained by choreographer Jess Curtis to clearly and engagingly describe the significant visual details of a performance that would be inaccessible to audience members with visual impairments.
Tactile tours are live tours before the performance and last around 20 to 30 minutes. They allow visitors to experience the space, the performers, the costumes and objects as well as the most important movement elements of a performance through touch and their own movement.
