Fragments of Life and Art: Amit & Tomer Abend

To mark “TACHELES – Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony”, HELLERAU is dedicating its “Fragments of Life and Art” program series to exploring various facets of Jewish experience and artistic practice. The starting point is the historical and artistic connections to HELLERAU, which continue to have an impact right up to the present day.

Amit and Tomer Abend are siblings who were born and raised in Israel, and whose artistic practice spans various disciplines and locations. Amit Abend lives and works as a dancer in Dresden, operating at the intersection of autobiography and fantasy. Tomer Abend works as a multidisciplinary visual artist, author, musician and filmmaker in Tel Aviv; in his work, he explores the multifaceted expressive possibilities of audiovisual language and the unique power of cinema.
