Adam Linder's choreographies combine innovative approaches to movement, virtuosity and performativity, breaking with conventions and renewing classical dance. In his new production “TOURNAMENT” the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop meets international dancers Doug Letheren, Greg Lau, Olivia Ancona and Nina Botkay. Set to a specially commissioned score by Ethan Braun, this choreography challenges the historical marriage of music and dance. Inspired by the notion that to subvert classical forms you need to perfect them first, “TOURNAMENT” draws from a sense of agonism to merge technical perfection with daring artistic experimentation. “TOURNAMENT” turns the stage into an impressive playing field where musicians and dancers abandon pure interpretation of their craft to negotiate the myth of harmonious unity.
