The “Make it Pop” festival kicks off with a special kind of dance festival. Various dance clubs and dance styles such as hip-hop, contemporary dance, tango, contact improvisation, K-pop, contemporary fusion and others will perform in the gardens, squares and paths of the garden city Hellerau - an experience that makes the popularity of dance tangible in a special way.
Curated by the go plastic company, a festival of togetherness is created, which concludes in front of the Festspielhaus and ends in the Kulturgarten.

Gems Crew e.V.
Gems Crew e.V. is a queer dance crew from Saxony and beyond. We are a group of nine members between the ages of 18 and 30. We bring together skills ranging from hip-hop, breaking, house, and waacking to DJing, art, design, and music. As young organizers, we create open spaces for exchange that respect cultural roots and promote anti-racism. We organize regular sessions, workshops, and the Feel Your Gem Battle—a battle where we give space and a voice primarily to FLINTA* BIPoC.

remix
remix is a four-member K-Pop (Korean Popular Music) dance cover group from Dresden that has been performing together as a quartet since 2020. After all, K-Pop encompasses not only the music but also the accompanying hip-hop-influenced dance style. This style has made a name for itself worldwide and has since developed a versatility that is also a central focus for remix.
Bailamos e.V.
Argentine tango is a wordless dialogue between two people. Two gazes meet, an embrace forms—two bodies merge into a single movement, carried together by the music. Instead of set choreography, the dance emerges in the moment: from improvisation, connection, and attentive listening between the dancers. Tango can be experienced in many places in Dresden—at open dance nights, in various dance schools, or at the tango club Bailamos e.V. A regular partner is not necessary; dancing with different people is part of the essence of this dance culture. Tango functions like a shared language that connects dancers worldwide.
B.O.P.
The collective B.O.P. consists of artists Caroline Beach, Casey Ouzounis, and Josef Panda, who blend influences from dance, pop music, visual arts, and performance in their work. The three met through various collaborations within Dresden’s art and culture scene. Their paths, which have repeatedly crossed, their interest in lived interdisciplinarity, and their penchant for the absurd now bring the artists together for their first performance as B.O.P., “Tanz in den Mai.”
