The artist and performer Olha Marusyn is on a ten-day residency in HELLERAU to prepare her installation-performance project "Plethora", which deals with infrastructure and love. She is working on the choreography and at the same time on the documentation of a fictional scene that brings Kyiv and Dresden together in 1998. She will be showing the first results of this research at the Open Studio.

Biography

Olha Marusyn is an artist and performer living and working in Ukraine. Her work consists primarily of choreographing events, using various media such as text, film, dance, painting and installation. She is interested in the temporality and politics of the art production process, while also exploring memory, personal mythology, replication and re-enactment. She has an education in graphic design and was a lecturer in book design at the National Academy of Arts in Lviv until 2020.

Exploring Echoes is a residency cooperation between HELLERAU, the Pochen Biennale (Chemnitz), Jam Factory Art Center (Lviv) and the Centre for Urban History (Lviv) and is dedicated to the artistic and discursive exploration of local and transregional interdependencies within the cultural landscapes between Germany and Ukraine.
